Fire Juggler

This is another chain of podfic recs. Like the last one, it mirrors how I drift around on my iPod (which is very, very, very full of podfic). It goes like this. I'm listening to podfic A that has some feature or theme of [ABC], which makes me think of podfic B, which has some feature of [XYZ], which then makes me think of podfic C, and so on. These tend to leap across fandoms and pairings, so, for a weird little look into the way FJ's mind works, and some completely, freaking awesome podfics, here we go. As always, I encourage you to branch out from your fandom/pairing ruts and give new things a try, I think that for this list, you don't actually have to be familiar with any of the fandoms to know what's going on. Summary: The tale of a comic geek, his matchmaker friends, and the tall, hot guy who can't stand the sight of him. And the sequel: The tale of a comic geek, his snarky best friend, and his super hot boyfriend whose choices may or may not bring shame down upon The Multi-Verse.
Brief Rec: Ah, reena_jenkins, how I love your voice. It's so bright and fun to listen to and is perfectly suited to this lightheated fic, which is one of the "comfort fics" I go to when I'm feeling a little under the weather. Reena's inflection here is pitch perfect, and the prose is completely delightful. Even just thinking about the beginning scene in which "Deadpool is always an option" makes my lips twitch and my heart grow three sizes.

Summary: Frank is a late night DJ; Gerard is an avid listener.
Brief Rec: I heard this for the first (and… ahem… second) time this week. argentumlupine is a wonderful reader, who reads so clearly and does an incredible job of letting the prose speak for itself. Her voice just kind of sinks into my brain and then I'm just there. She has (I think) only done three podfics so far, but I've downloaded them all and I'm hoping that there are more coming in the future. The fic is just so sweet and fun and just fills me with ALL THE HAPPY FEELINGS!

Summary: It's not totally weird to be in love with a person’s voice is it? If it is, Jared's pretty much okay with being weird. Jensen is a DJ and Jared ... well, he suddenly loves his radio.
Brief Rec: I love listening to meansprite read, and this was one of the first podfics I ever heard by her. I adore the way she reads Sandy and shy!Jared, and my heart just breaks for Jared, who is defined as "shy", but more likely has a severe case of social anxiety, and struggles with making friends, which I can relate to. It's a lovely fic and podfic, and meansprite incorporates the music Jenson plays with absolute perfection.

Summary: In which Spencer is antisocial and hates Christmas, Ryan is in love, Jon is planning vacations and Brendon doesn't want to spend Christmas alone.
Brief Rec: Another podfic from a fandom that I was introduced to just this week and just listened to. fleurrochard has a beautiful soothing voice and a lovely smooth way of reading that I can (and did) listen to for hours and hours. The fic itself is just heartbreakingly lovely and funny and sweet and warm and I just want to sweet Brendon up and cuddle him forever.

Summary: Percy centric—I wonder what he's giving his family for Christmas
Brief Rec: This is a gorgeous little podfic that I was so pleased to listen to. One of the good things about modding fests is that you see/hear/read things that maybe you wouldn't ordinarily seek out. I don't read a lot of gen!fic, but this is well worth the 6 minutes it takes to sit down and listen. tree00faery reads quickly, but very clearly and the story flows very smoothly. I have a soft spot for Percy, who always seemed like a bit of an outcast from the Weasley family and this is such a tender look at his struggles and reveals his absolute love for his family beautifully. This was tree00faery's first podfic and I hope she does many, many more.

Summary: There are several considerations Arthur would like to go over, starting with the state of Merlin's virtue.
Brief Rec: lunchy_munchy is one of those readers I would follow anywhere, so it is fairly frequent that I get launched into some new pairing or fandom that I thought I wasn't interested in, because, well, I'll listen to anything she does. As usual, she does a wonderful job reading this fic and her voice always makes me smile. This fic is my go-to when I'm (re-)watching Merlin and Arthur is being an asshole, because it's what I want Arthur to be like on the inside, even if he's being an asshole on the outside. And Gwaine is just so lovely here, simultaneously IC and adoring of Merlin.
