So, a while back, (months ago) paraka donated to Scarleteen in exchange for a podfic by me. She has been ever so patient since then. When I asked her what fic she would like to be podficced, she gave me a list, ostensibly so that I wouldn't be forced into podficcing something I wasn't comfortable with or a fic that I didn't like. At the time, I thought oh, how sweet of her!!! But now I know the truth!!! Sneaky paraka is sneaky, dangling all these sparkly, fabulous fics, many of which have authors who have given blanket permission to record!!! She knew I wouldn't be able to resist doing more than one. So… yeah… ummm….. paraka, you are getting two for the price of one :) *hugs*

The first is call me home by moirariordan. It's the most delicious collar!kink fic EVER and Kris is so delightfully open with himself about his own desires. moirariordan somehow manages to write a fic that is simultaneously smoking hot and full of ALL THE FEELINGS, and yet has very little actual…um… sex. In the words of teas_me, "I never knew that collar!kink could be so sweet!" What can I say, moirariordan is amazing, and now that I've been introduced to her, I'm going to find myself coming back again and again.

The second is you're dumbstruck baby (by my lovin') by jeyhawk, whose fics I just can't stay away from. It features a very different Kris from the first. One who is sexually inexperienced to the extreme, and delightfully shy, with an Adam who is ever so patient. It also hits one of my biggest kinks ever, mutual masturbation. It's sweet and hot and fun and full of those misunderstandings that are so easily resolved for a brilliant happy ending.

This morning, the plan was to come home and record fun podfic. But then Wednesday happened: I inadvertently deleted (never to be seen again) half-a-day's work, I had a long meeting in which nothing was accomplished, a piece of my back tooth broke off (I kid you not), my train home was late, meaning that I then missed my connecting bus, and my refrigerator is empty. Suffice it to say, it's not to be. On days like today, I am saved by comfort podfic, and since I'm not up to recording, I thought I would rec a handful of my comfort pods to you.

I require very specific things from comfort podfic. They are the podfics that I dig out when I desperately need a smile and a hug. Therefore, they tend to fall into the following categories:

1) They are not epic. I love epic!podfic, but when I'm stressed or down, my attention span dwindles to that of a gnat. Generally, my comfort pods are 10 minutes to 1 hour (very rarely there may be one that is a couple of hours, but never a long, long, long one).
2) They have a degree of lightness to them. The angst, if there is any, is short-lived and easily remedied, and they always, always have a happy ending. NO TEARS HERE.
3) No slow build-ups. See above about attention span. These are quick to capture me and don't lag. No meandering tales here (much as I love them).

So...if you're in need of a bit of a pick-me-up...

So… paraka opened a can of worms introducing me to American Idol. I blame her entirely for this, and… um.. my podfic big bang… and every other AI podfic I create. This particular Kris/Adam fic just filled me with such happiness. jeyhawk writes the wonderful, fun, sweet fics that never fail to make me smile. This particular one just filled me with glee. Kris is charmingly innocent and yet remarkably sure of his mind, and Adam is…. Adam.

Thanks so much to jeyhawk for blanket permission to record. You write such awesome, fun fics, and I adore every one of them. Thanks as well to takola and teas_me (as always) for the beta jobs.

Happy Day!!!! It's Valentine's Day today. But, the thing is, I don't celebrate V-day. I don't hate it. It doesn't make me ragey. I've just been single for so long that it's a null holiday for me. But, it's the middle of February, and if ever there was a month in which we needed to celebrate something to get us through, it's February. Therefore, I present the Not-Valentine's Itty-Bitty Podficlet Anthology. 23 podfics of ficlets and drabbles (no more than 1000 words each) from 11 fandoms. They range from angst to PWP to fluff to humor. There's femmeslash, gen, het, and slash. What they do have in common is that they are all brilliant little snippets that build a whole world in just a few words.

My very great thanks to all the authors for the permission to record these fics. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it, and how much fun I had recording! Blanket permission is a godsend for projects like these and everyone has been so wonderful! Also, as always, thanks to teas_me and takola for the uber-fast beta job.

OMG. The last podfic post of 2011! And, in so many ways, it's just so suited to the end of the year. For one thing, it's American Idol (a brand new fandom for me), which might not seem suited to you, but what you may not know is that AI is paraka's main fandom, and she was the beta for my very first podfic. She gave me the confidence to post and was so awesome when I was teetering on shaky legs. So I feel a little like I've come full circle. Additionally, it's a bit representative of the journey I've taken from HP only to new and different fandoms.

The fic, itself, is AMAZE. I'm a foodie. Like...an insane foodie, who pretty much lives and dies in her kitchen with her apron on (I have four aprons, depending on my mood). This fic... GOD! The food descriptions here are just to-die-for. The appearance, the scents, the tastes...they are just all here. The glory of the kitchen is represented in all its beauty. samanthahirr words just fill my mind and inspire me to go cook. It is everything I love in a fic. The rating is PG-13 and the build-up of the relationship is so perfectly slow. From acquaintances, to friends, to...something more. The friendship here just shines so beautifully.

Huge thank you to samanthahirr for writing such an awesomely awesome fic, and then for giving Blanket Permission to record. You are so awesome!!! Also, big thanks to katekat1010. You see that absolutely stunning cover art down there? That is courtesy of katekat1010, who created the original art for the story, then graciously allowed me to use it and additionally changed the center square for me to be more podfic-oriented. It's so beautiful and I love it so much!!

And enormous thanks to paraka, ladydeth12, and takola. For this fic, you held my hand and helped me through my crisis of confidence, and over 2011, each of you has listened and guided and pushed and praised me at all the right moments. I most certainly would not be podficcing if not for the three of you. ♥

So, paraka, knowing that I've been feeling a bit off recently, made me a podfic!!!!! *flails incoherently* She knows that I am brand new to AI fandom and seem to have developed a bit of a Kris/Adam werewolf thing. So SHE MADE ME THIS!!!!! *flails some more*

paraka, as always, does a glorious job reading it and the story is just... GUH! So even if you're not actively in AI Fandom, you should check it out. No background knowledge is necessary and it's a fabulous ride!

Ok. So…as one of the mods for hp_podfic_fest, I feel like it's not my place, nor is it really appropriate for me to rec any of the podfics coming out of that fest (though I will say GO NOW and listen!!!! And if you rec, let me know so that I can point the podficcers in that direction). However, I'm in the mood to rec. I've been listening to podfic like crazy recently, so what you're going to get is recs in the way that I listen to the stuff on my iPod.

It goes like this. I'm listening to podfic A that has some feature or theme of ABC which makes me think of podfic B, which also has some feature of XYZ, which then makes me think of podfic C, and so on. These leaps tend to cross fandoms and pairings, so, for a weird little look into the way FJ's mind works, and some completely, freaking awesome podfics, here we go. As always, I encourage you to branch out from your fandom/pairing ruts and give new things a try. If you're not familiar with the fandom, just think of them as original fiction, you won't be disappointed. A CHAIN OF RECS…..
