Recorded for the dracotops_harry fest. This has been one of my favorite fics for years, and I'm so thrilled that the_gubette gave me permission to record it. It's such a gorgeous story that breaks me and fills me with hope every time I read it. I love Astoria so much in this fic, and Harry as a hospice nurse just seemed so perfect to me. When I first signed-up for the dracotops_harry fest, I was struggling to find a fic that would work. I never really notice who tops, and reading all the sex scenes in all the fics I know to make sure that it's all toppy-top-top!Draco (while pleasurable) seemed like a lot of work. I decided the easiest thing to do was to contact writcraft, whose writing I love, and ask if she wanted to collaborate with me. She could write a fic for one of the prompts, and I could come along afterward and podfic it. I couldn't be more thrilled with the result. I have a special, soft spot in my heart for fairy tales and it was an absolute joy to work with writcraft and to see the story come together. HUGE GINORMOUS THANKS to her for not only writing such an awesome fic, but also saving me from myself and creating the cover art as well.

Thanks also to takola and teas_me for the beta, you ladies are the best!!!

So. I had this idea for a fic. But, the thing is, that I can’t write. I mean, not at all. Writing is not my thing. This is one of the reasons I podfic. But this story has been pounding away in my brain for nearly two weeks and I thought, WTF, I don’t have to write a fic. I can just frame the fic, in a not!ficcy kind of way and maybe if I do this, it will GET THE HELL OUT OF MY SKULL!!!!!!!

So, I sat down for two hours and spewed out 2500 words of not!fic. I don’t even fucking know, you guys. Harry Potter fandom doesn’t even do not!fic and this is barely even not!fic. But, what the hell. Here it is. Undeserving of a title or a header. It’s Harry/Draco pre-slash. It has a non-H/D character death. I have not even checked it for spelling.

I wash my hands of it.

sirius_black Fest has started posting!!!!

A little more than one year ago, I posted my very first podfic. It was 6 Lessons from a Dead Man by roozetter. Roo's fics are like catnip to me. I keep coming back to them, again and again. This one is so lovely-sad-hopeful-beautiful-happy. Luna…she just shines so brightly here. This is a fic about healing and love and finding ways to go on after the war.

So, warning: There is singing in this fic. And if I'm going to sing (and put you through the agony of listening to me sing), then I better get something out of it. Therefore, my wildcard square on my podfic_bingo card has just turned into "Sing". Many thanks to takola and teas_me for betaing. Music is Fallen by Audiafauna. Totally amazing song.

I recorded two podfics for the Awesome Ladies Podfic Anthology, and while I strongly encourage you to download the entire thing, here are my two contributions. Thanks to both authors for permission to record. Thanks to the wonderful mods of the Awesome Ladies for being so...well... awesome. Thanks to teas_me for the super-fast beta job.

The first is by the ever-wonderful woldy. I love reading woldy's work, because it just flows so smoothly and beautifully. This ficlet made me so happy, even with a pairing I never considered. It works in a way I never would have imagined. I finished it and all I could think was "I desperately want a Millicent of my very own!!!"

Happy Day!!!! It's Valentine's Day today. But, the thing is, I don't celebrate V-day. I don't hate it. It doesn't make me ragey. I've just been single for so long that it's a null holiday for me. But, it's the middle of February, and if ever there was a month in which we needed to celebrate something to get us through, it's February. Therefore, I present the Not-Valentine's Itty-Bitty Podficlet Anthology. 23 podfics of ficlets and drabbles (no more than 1000 words each) from 11 fandoms. They range from angst to PWP to fluff to humor. There's femmeslash, gen, het, and slash. What they do have in common is that they are all brilliant little snippets that build a whole world in just a few words.

My very great thanks to all the authors for the permission to record these fics. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it, and how much fun I had recording! Blanket permission is a godsend for projects like these and everyone has been so wonderful! Also, as always, thanks to teas_me and takola for the uber-fast beta job.

This is another chain of podfic recs. Like the last one, it mirrors how I drift around on my iPod (which is very, very, very full of podfic). It goes like this. I'm listening to podfic A that has some feature or theme of [ABC], which makes me think of podfic B, which has some feature of [XYZ], which then makes me think of podfic C, and so on. These tend to leap across fandoms and pairings, so, for a weird little look into the way FJ's mind works, and some completely, freaking awesome podfics, here we go. As always, I encourage you to branch out from your fandom/pairing ruts and give new things a try, I think that for this list, you don't actually have to be familiar with any of the fandoms to know what's going on. So, a while back, I posted a whiney, begging, pleading post about how I really wanted an HP Fest based on Harlequin/Mills and Boons books. Other fandoms have them. I've seen them all over the place!! Why not HP?!!?? The thing is, though, that I've discovered that often when you want something done, you have to do it yourself and well...

A) I hate modding
B) I'm not that great at modding--I get stressy and cranky.
C) I'm lazy
D) ...I don't remember D, but I'm sure there are many good and solid reasons why I should not take this on. I'm sure. *shifty eyes*

Basically, I wanted the stories, but I didn't want to work for them. I just wanted them to appear, magic-like, so that I can float by and enjoy them. So, naturally I whined to my flist. Aaaaaaaand.... Five months later.... IT'S A REALITY!!!! Not only that, but they start posting 3 days before my birthday!!! *sings quietly and off-key* "Happy Birthday to me...". It's fate, I tell you, fate.

To kitty_fic, freakingcrups, literaryspell, wildflower4evr and winterstorrm, I twirl and love and glomp you endlessly. To everyone else- Go forth and make me fabulous works!!!!! Prompting will start next week!

The last (but not least) of the podfic reposts for my submissions to hp_podfic_fest. I discovered this fic when I was going through the list of author offerings and looking for fics that were not H/D or HP/SS. I read it and just fell in love. Completely. And Irrevocably. This fic simultaneously breaks my heart and fills me with hope at the same time. woldy paints the atmosphere of the cities in question flawlessly and does such an amazing job plumbing the depths of two men who are trying to find a way through their difficult past to a new future. Their wariness and distrust shine as brightly as their incredible desire to rekindle the trust and friendship they once shared. I cannot say enough that you should experience this fic. If listening isn't your cuppa, go read it. Now.

As always, thanks to my trusty betas takola and ladydeth12, who always listen to my podfics, even if the pairing is not their absolute first choice, and help me make it better. This is the second repost for my submissions to hp_podfic_fest. Snowflakes and Cashmere is one of the fics I always read at Christmas time. It's pure, unadulterated fluff of the fluffy variety and this is a time of year where I desperately need that. Plus, I have a huge soft spot for 8th year Hogwarts fics. This fic... it always leaves me with a lightness of feeling. The beautiful, original cover art waltzing_mice fits this fic exactly. There is a happy joy here that is so wonderful for me.

This is the first of three reposts of my entries for hp_podfic_fest. celestlyn has been with me on my podficcing journey from the very, very beginning. She listened to, and commented on, my very first podfic, which was not-her-favorite-pairing Snarry, and has endured endless hours listening to me go on and on and on and on about podfic in Chatzy, without ever saying "that's not what this chat room is FOR!!!!" She was also one of the first to give me permission to record her fics. I held off, because I really wanted to do Grand Noble and it was a Christmas fic, so I thought I would wait for...you know... Christmas :)

I found it to be a charming story. It's a PWP with that little something extra that makes me love it. celestlyn does such a lovely job of addressing the fact that Harry and Draco come from two completely different worlds, and that it might not all be smooth sailing for them, but they keep trying.

Huge thanks to celestlyn for not only offering up her fic for my interpretation, but also for being an endless source of encouragement for all my podficcing endeavors! Also, big thanks to k_e_wilson, who saved me from my endless battle with GIMP and created the lovely cover art for this podfic. *hugs*

So, just before I left on holiday, takola sent me an email with a podfic made just for me!!! She scoured my rec lists and found one of my favorite non-magic AU Drarry fics, Interpreting Draconis by dacro. It's a gorgeous story with deaf!Draco written by an author who has spent years in the deaf community. As such, she approaches the story with such an understanding of the community. It is a joy to read and the is the best of what makes an AU fic, in that the characters are still recognizable as themselves, just in a different setting.

takola, as always, does a lovely job of reading. Her pacing is spot on and it is just wonderful to listen to. It was the podfic that kept me sane on my plane flight home from Christmas vacation. If takola can't soothe you with her voice, then no-one can.

One last thing...that gorgeous cover art down there? That's by k_e_wilson. I just love it, and I just love the way she focuses on the hands. It's so beautiful and adds such an amazing touch to the podfic overall.

So to all three of you, takola, k_e_wilson, and dacro, thank you so much!!! And all of my flist should run and listen. It is well worth your while. ♥

*flails* My second podfic has posted to hp_podfic_fest!!! It's veritas03's adorable little H/D winter fic, Snowflakes and Cashmere, which I always seek out on the first snow of the season. It's such a sweet, warm story of the variety that got me into fandom in the first place.

Ok. It took me a long time to get into Harry/Ron. The dynamic is so very, very different from the gryff/slyth pairings that I tend to favor. But, there is a warm comfort to Harry/Ron that just fills me with happiness, and not enough of it out there to fill my appetite. So... it thrills me to say that on the very same day....

*flails* So. I made three podfics for hp_podfic_fest. Two of them I had planned to do. In fact, they were the whole reason the fest was created. I thought--"Hey, I'm planning on doing a couple Christmas podfics! Let's make everyone do Christmas podfics!!!" So, I started the fest thinking that I would do those two podfics and be done with it! Easy peasy.

Then I read woldy's Of Comets and Counter-Examples. It just called to me. It's an absolutely gorgeous Remus/Sirius fic. I can't even begin to express how much it touched me, and how lovely the writing is. It was one of those fics that was so easy to read because the words flow so beautifully. If you are not a listener of podfic (or even if you are), I encourage you to check out the text version. If you are not usually a Remus/Sirius shipper, I encourage you to try it anyway.
