February is my most hated month. It's cold, and dreary, and I usually get sick. This year, I had the dubious pleasure of getting sick not once, but twice. Go me. I look on my Twitter feed, and everyone else is sick too. Or having bad days at work. Or having fandom freak-outs. Or life crises. People are on hiatus from fandom because RL just got too overwhelming, and to top it all off, we in the U.S. have the horribleness of the Republican primaries to slog through. So, how about a little joy? Just a small amount? I mean, March is just around the corner. March is when the effervescent teas_me is coming to visit! March is when the first day of Spring occurs! The days start getting longer and the sun shines a little more brightly! But until then, here's a little something that never fails to fill me with joy. Every time I watch it, I see something new. Happy almost March, everyone!

Hi all!!! So... we're family here, right? A kind of weird, dysfunctional family, maybe, but family nonetheless. And family helps out when help is needed. So... a couple of things. First off... The most wonderful and lovely sly_hostetter is looking to buy a car in the midst of schooling and medical bills and insurance and family obligations. I'm overdue to give huge amounts of thanks to two people.

First of all, the lovely and wonderful uniquepov, who managed to simultaneously brighten my day and destroy my New Year's vow to eat better by sending me a block of the most amazing maple fudge EVER! Along with chocolates! And a lovely card! I...um... didn't eat the card. ♥ Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Secondly, big thanks to singlemomsummer, who makes jewelry and gave me the prettiest blue earrings for my collection. Hi all!

So, one of my 2012 Fandom Resolutions is to COMMENT MORE!!! And, since that's a hard thing to quantify or to know if you're doing, I originally thought that I would make a personal promise that every Friday, I would set my computer to notify me that I was going to comment on Five Fanworks that day. You know... Feedback for Five Fanworks on Friday (yay! Alliteration!!!). This seems to me like a pretty simple, achievable, measurable goal, and would be in addition to any other commenting I did during the week (ergo, "more"). And I can still do this, quietly and on my own. But I kind of got to thinking that it seems like a lot of people feel like they should comment more, and maybe it would be more fun to do it together!

So, I have a little proposal to see if anyone would be interested in joining me in my quest. I could make a little comm, and those interested could join and we could have....

1) A banner that shows up on your list every Friday to remind you.
2) A spreadsheet where you can record your progress
3) Maybe pointers to some meta posts about feedback for various fanworks (or maybe people could be inspired and write some for fanworks that don't have any).
4) Maybe some little mini-feedback challenges along the way

Just...something to keep us all working together to spread a little love, one fanwork at a time.

I was thinking it would be:

1) Multi-fandom
2) ALL FANWORKS (did someone crochet a Sherlock doll that made you really happy? That's a fanwork! Does someone run a fest or community that you use all the time? That's a fanwork too!)
3) Honor-system (no-one checking up on you)
4) Super laid-back (Friday doesn't work for you? You can make your day Wednesday! Miss a week? Do 10 the next week....)

Would this be of interest to anyone? If there are even a few people, I wouldn't mind setting it up. I feel like it would be pretty easy to maintain and might help encourage all of us who always seem to struggle with leaving feedback to do a little more.

Thoughts? Stupid idea? I can totally do this on my own and no-one would be the wiser, so no pressure here, it was just an idea.....

Happy 2012!

To all of you on my flist, I wish you a super-happy, productive, healthy, wonderful year!!! You all pretty much made my 2011 a good one, counter-balancing the craziness of my RL with the craziness of Fandom (which is altogether a different kind of craziness). Happy New Year, BBs!!!!!

Fannish 2012 Resolutions

1) Comment MORE!!! I kind of fell down on commenting at the end of 2011 and I know how much it means. This goes double for podfics, since often they get few to no comments. *will try to create a commenting system that works for me*

2) Record more femmeslash (and because I recorded a grand total of 0 femmeslash podfics in 2011, this should be easy).

3) Record at least 1 podfic that pushes my reading boundaries, either due to length or writing-style.

4) Encourage more HP (and other) Authors to have Blanket Permission Statements on their profiles/masterlists and to sign up on BP Lists.
( Cut for why this is a really good thing ) So you guys, totally think about adding a BP statement to your Profiles or Masterlists as well as signing up on BP Lists!! And if you want, I can point you to both BP lists as well as some awesome BP Statements that I have found to give you an idea of how some people do it.

5) Record in at least 3 new fandoms.

6) Run another round of hp_podfic_fest, preferably without the nervous breakdown at the end.

7) Keep my Fest and Thematic Lists Up-to-date I'm behind on that already. *headdesk*

Hi All!!! *glomps my flist* I am about to spam you with approximately a million posts (or...you know... five, but whatever). First off, some thanks for people who sent me lovely Christmas-y things!!!

Thank you ladydeth12 for the incredible tea, teaspoon, and mugs. I am so IN LOVE WITH THEM!!!!!. They came at a time when I was feeling down in the dumps and gave me such a lovely lift! You are awesome!!!

Thank you to celestlyn for the beautiful e-card, which was then followed up with an actual, real, genuine, snail-mail Christmas card, which was waiting for me when I got home today.

I also received lovely v-gifts from people!!! So thank you to calrissian18, ladydeth12, and paraka for the Snowman Cookie! Thank you valinorean, for the Mistletoe *kisses you* Thank you nenne, for the candles. And thank you slytherincesss for the headphones!!!

Lastly (but hardly least), I received two podfics for the holiday season!!!! One from takola and one from nickelmountain. I will be going into these more in the next posts because they are just that awesome, but just to get the flaily happy thanks out there all in one big happy post, THANK YOU!!!!!
